Statement of Faith

Salem Church is a part of God’s family, and professes faith in Jesus Christ, who conquered sin and death, and reconciled people to God.

We believe, affirm and teach the following articles of faith.

We believe that God has revealed Himself fully and decisively in Scripture, through the Trinitarian nature and name of  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the sole head of the Church is Jesus Christ, Son of God and Savior, who is the only way to salvation.

We believe our dependance for discipleship, ministry and mission is upon the presence and power of the Holy Spirit

We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, and our guide for faith and life.

We affirm the faith of the historic Church as expressed in the ancient creeds and reclaimed in the basic insights of the Protestant reformers.

We affirm the two sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion), in accordance with the teaching of Jesus and the practice prevailing among reformed and evangelical Christians.

We affirm the sanctity of human life at every stage, based on our creation in the image of God and our election by God for service in His Kingdom.

We affirm the Biblical definition of marriage as a covenant relationship between one man and one woman, and affirm the Biblical guidelines for human sexuality — chastity outside of marriage and faithfulness in marriage.

We affirm the responsibility of the Church in each generation to spread the Good News of the Gospel of salvation through every word and deed.

Thanks be to God. Amen.
